The Site

The Baverstock site was established during the Second World War as a forward logistics depot of the United States Army Air Forces — one of a network of American installations in southern England prepared for the invasion of Continental Europe. Fourteen prefabricated Butler shed structures were erected on the fifty-acre chalk downland plot between 1942 and 1943, and remain in serviceable order eighty years later.

Following the withdrawal of American forces the depot was transferred to Royal Air Force custody and operated as RAF Baverstock, holding bomb, ammunition, and aviation fuel stocks through the immediate post-war period and into the Cold War. The site retained its defence function throughout the twentieth century.

The site passed into family ownership in the late twentieth century and continues to be used for defence-adjacent purposes under private operation by members of the founding family.

Family Heritage

Baverstock Defence Limited represents the formal corporate expression of a longer family tradition of British defence and aerospace work.

The founder's grandfather was employed at British Aircraft Corporation and its successor operations at BAE Systems, with associations including work touching the Concorde programme during its development phase.

The founder's father and uncle have operated defence-related work on the Baverstock site itself for several decades, providing continuity of established security regime, institutional relationships within the British defence supply chain, and operational knowledge that a new-entrant firm would ordinarily require years to develop.

Ethos

The company operates on four principles:

Discretion. Defence work requires reliability of confidentiality. Baverstock Defence maintains an established security regime and operates without publicity beyond what is required for tender submission and industry engagement.

Continuity. The company is not a startup in the ordinary sense. It is the corporate expression of an existing three-generation operational history. Buyers dealing with Baverstock deal with heritage.
